  12. The character sets in this collection are for use with Rod Gasson's
  13. Browser program, and Matt Desmond's Desterm term program in place of
  14. the des.ibmfullset character set. They may also be suitable for other
  15. purposes too. These sets include the FULL ASCII character translations.
  16. The character sets are from a variety of places, have a rich history
  17. and and may even seem familiar to you. Almost all of these were
  18. included either in the QWKRR128 archives or in the QWKCHRS.SFX file
  19. which I released in 1994.

  21. The original character sets were 5 blocks long and unsuitable for
  22. use with Browser, since Browser (and Desterm) use 9 block character
  23. sets.

  25. This archive is only one of eight different archives of character sets
  26. which I am releasing at this time.  The other archives include one with
  27. the CBM PETASCII sets for use with Browser, and six different archives
  28. for Desterm's terminal emulations: VT52, VT100, IBMSET, CBMSET, CBM C/G
  29. SET, and the AMIGASET. (Over 200 character sets in all eight archives).

  31. Because converting and organising these character sets into each format
  32. has taken considerable effort, I'm asking for a small contribution of
  33. $10 or $15 (your choice) that I can use towards other Commodore
  34. projects. This isn't a "shareware" project, as these character sets can
  35. be used by different programs, but I did take the time and effort to
  36. update them for your use and enjoyment. USA currency or check is
  37. acceptable.

  40. few notes about some of the character sets and their history.

  49. ROT13    - The STD set converted for reading files which have been
  50.             encrypted using the ROT13 "standard".
  51. OZ       - The STD set turned upside down - graphic characters and all.
  52. NILES ** - This set and DARK are very similar, but I elected to include
  53.            both so the user could have a choice between the two.

  62. SQUAT    - A character set created from scratch by Rod Gasson and used

  70. SPARTN   - A combination of two different "thin" sets.
  71. TINY     - A short squat set.
  72. LGCPTNY  - Combination of Large Caps and the Tiny set.
  73. SHCAPS   - Short caps, uses the STD set for lower case.
  74. LOWCPS   - The caps for this set is slightly wider than the shcaps set.
  75. WDCPS    - Wide caps with the STD set for lower case.
  76. GR       - A custom font, using fancy caps and STD for lower case, for
  77.            readability.

  81. REYNEL   - A custom Thin set, named after the suburb of Reynella in
  82.            Australia. Lower and upper case are the same in this set.

  87. and have now been further updated.
